Since, the final 26-man team was picked by Southgate in May and headed for the EURO 2024 tournament in Germany, we've progressed through the tournament with lady luck shining on us.
With dappled stand out performances and a defensive gameplay, we drew an easy ride of a group into the later stages of the Euros. Then in the quarter-finals it came down to the wire and our fate rested on penalties - however we pulled it out of the bag to reach the semi finals!
What a match the semi-final was! The England team balanced the books once again with the Dutch by taking the win in our closest contest yet of the Euros! The game was won in the final minutes by a brilliant goal from Ollie Watkins which earned him Player of the Match.
Southgate had this to say about the team's performance:
"That's what we came for. It's an incredibly tough game; we're playing the best team in the tournament so far. But we're here still – we're fighting, on the back of a really good performance. I'm just so pleased for everybody back home."
